Our “Yaraandoo” vineyard is located near the historic village of Berrima in the Southern Highlands, a cool climate region in New South Wales, at the relatively high altitude of 715 metres. The long, slow ripening period combined with our commitment to low cropping, hand pruning and hand picking, results in premium wines that are subtle and elegant, with excellent fruit characters.
The wine is a brilliant ruby red colour with intense cassis and blackberry leaf aromas. Medium bodied it shows ripe berries and chocolate on the palate with fine tannins that complement the long blackcurrant finish. It has spent 9 months in French oak barriques.
|Notes From The Winemaker:||An early budburst and early strong growth was followed by warm temperatures through late Spring and early Summer resulting in an excellent flowering and fruit set. A dryer than usual Spring/Summer led to perfect ripening conditions post veraison, therefore disease pressures were low and excellent clean fruit was harvested across all varieties. The winter rains from 2013 ensured a healthy crop load with intense varietal character but with moderate acidity. The Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested on the 28th April at 13 Baume.|
