This wine is a special blend of our award winning Yaraandoo Riesling. The fruit comes from the eastern side of our vineyard that our Viticulturist has carefully cropped at 1.5 tonnes/acre. It has been made with the intention that you can confidently cellar this to enjoy for many years to come. It has a fine and taut palate with fragrant lemon and lime characters, lined by mineral acidity that comes from our shale based soils. Only 64 dozen produced.
Notes From The Winemaker: | An early budburst and early strong growth was followed by warm temperatures through November and December resulting in an excellent flowering and fruit set. A drier than usual summer and autumn led to perfect ripening conditions post veraison, with the wet humid conditions that adversely affected many of Australia's warm climate wine regions during veraison not appearing in the high altitudes of the Southern Highlands, and therefore disease pressures were low and excellent clean fruit was harvested across all varieties. The winter rains from 2014 ensured a healthy crop load with intense varietal character but with moderate acidity. This Riesling was harvested on the 8th of March at 11 baume, almost 2 weeks earlier than usual. The fruit displayed lemon and lime characters with good acidity. |
