The fruit for this wine was grown especially for Tertini Wines in the Coal River Valley region of Tasmania situated near Hobart. The vineyard is situated on a North-East facing site upon doleritic soils. This vineyard has a long slow ripening period from its cool nights and moderate days to ensure our fruit is grown with the richness, aromatic development and balance that this region is renowned for.
|Notes From The Winemaker:||The season began with higher than average rainfall in winter and spring prompting faster than usual growth, although temperatures remained a bit below average. As summer arrived the rain disappeared, but temperatures were still cooler than average. The very dry period from summer through to mid-autumn required vigilance in managing irrigation. Yields were moderate overall, but all the indications promise high quality across all varieties. Our Riesling has fragrant aromas of lemon, lime and florals. The palate is full of citrus and apple flavours which are complemented by crisp Tasmanian acidity. Upon harvest the fruit was gently pressed in a membrane press and left to cold settle for 48 hours. The clear juice was then racked and underwent a long, cool ferment in a stainless steel tank to retain its fresh fruit characters. The wine was left on fine lees for 2 months prior to fining, filtering and bottling.|
