SOLD OUT – 2018 vintage release date March 2019
On our Yaraandoo site, running alongside 200 year old gum trees, our four rows of Lagrein, look like they have found a new productive home in the highlands. Our production is very limited, keeping this wine as a special addition to our club member tasting list in the cellar door. This wine shows dark berry and herbal aromas, with an intense, concentrated palate. It spent 9 months in an old French barrique. A rare variety, well worth a visit to the highlands to discover.
|Notes From The Winemaker:||The 2016 vintage started normally with average budburst dates in all varieties. Good growth was experienced early in the season with moderate temperatures and good soil moisture due to good rainfalls. The weather turned cold at flowering (late November) which resulted in an abnormally long flowering/fruit set period. After Christmas we experienced an extended mild growing season which resulted in a long gradual ripening over what turned out to be unusually warm days. The Lagrein was harvested on the 13th April 2016 at 13.0 Baume.|
